Cd5 throttle body problem
I have a 95 cd5 5 spd. Ive owned the car since 3/13 and have just learned to deal with it but now its time to fix it. I have having an issue that I cant come up with a solution to. every time I get in my car and try to go some where my gas pedal decides to stick. or everytime I go to start moving it seems I have to kick the gas pedal. and another problem that seems to happen with this is that after accelerating very hard it sticks open and idles at 1200-1500rpms. now Ive done some research and what ive mostly found is that the tb needs a good cleaning. which ive done this a good couple of times. have any of you had this problem or now of a solution?
id really be appreciate it, ive scratched my head some any times and cant figure anything out, please let me know.

If with all the cables disconnected(cable to pedal, cable to cruise if applicable, and cable to auto trans if applicable) abd the throttle body still gets hung up or sticks, and you have cleaned the TB inside and out, then it is most likely that the throttle shaft bore is worn out. Misalignment of the butterfly in the bore will cause it to jam. I don't recall having a TPS break in a way that would cause jamming of the throttle, but you could remove the sensor and see if anything changes with the shaft. If you can move the shaft up/down left/right then it is worn.

I cant polish anything or smooth somethin out
jy will be your best friend on that I think for ease. if you have completely narrowed it down to the butterfly plate jamming up in the tb then just go with a known good one.
If you go to the junkyard and replace it, make sure you get the right one. The secondary cable bracket that attaches on the side is different between the years/models. Make sure you get the right one for your car.
Is the TB completely clean? If there is anything in the jamming it up that would explain what you are talking about. If the shaft was bad, you'd think it would get stuck at all degrees of rotation(on the butterfly) not just when it was trying to close/open from being closed.
I personally would just pull it off the car and inspect it on the bench. It would be much easier to figure out what the problem is, thoroughly clean it if needed, and go from there.
My thoughts...

toycar, so what your saying is give it another good cleaning off the car and look at it closer on a bench, with it jamming the way that it does could it have stretched the throttle cable at all?
and another thing I did to try to solve it was try to tighten up the cable with the adjuster before it messes up the idle. it seem to work when I did it but after one or two time of accelerating hard it seems to happen again.
Well first I would just clean the **** out of my current one and see if the butterfly was catching on some build up I had overlooked. But, if the cable was moving freely and the butterfly was jamming up but the bore was spotless, I would just replace it with a junkyard unit.
Make sure you reset the TPS if you do replace it.
This is what I would probably do.

toycar, I will make sure to clean it up really good before I result in buying a new one thanks.
when I looked it up a while ago it seemed that many people were having this issue. is this a common problem??
oh hah thanks I shoulda known. but yeah ill probably do that when it warms up some.

Yeah, fairly common on cars that get higher mileage. It just gets nasty in there and eventually **** gets gummed up and has a hard time getting loose from a full closed position. If something is wrong with the shaft on the butterfly you usually have problems at all angles of rotation(from closedd to wide open throttle) but it sounds like you are more having problems coming out of a full close position. Seems like its catching on something-and yeah, that is common.
It'll probably cost more than a Junkyard unit and it'll take a bunch of time to get r done. If you want to do it, by all means go for it.
For me, i'd rather spend 30 seconds with my cordless impact at the junkyard pulling a new one that is rotating smoothly and just be done with it. Different strokes for different folks though yanno. Maybe you don't have a junkyard nearby.
Maybe they charge too much. I dunno. Whatever works for you though. My local junkyard charges like $20. So, no big deal for me.
You could replace the internals I suppose, but why?
