cruise control not working
Hello I just bought an '01 CR-V LX 4wd. i noticed on the test drive that the cruise control was not working. It wasn't a deal breaker but I would like to fix it. I've checked the fuse in the fuse box. I heard there was a relay but couldnt find one on the diagram on the box. I checked all the vacuum lines and everythin obvious. The brake pedal grommet is still there. It is an auto so no clutch switch. I'm wondering if it is the cruise button itself. It is always orange. Is it supposed to turn green? On my 96 Civic it is always off and green when pressed. Any suggestions? thanks!
I doubt it's the switch. I would assume the orange means the controller is seeing a problem and that's equivalent to a check engine light. Somewhere in this forum section there is a link to the helms manual for 1st gen crv's. There will be a flow chart in there giving you all the steps to diagnose the cruise system.

I have a 99 CR-V AWD that I finally got a schematic for the non functional cruise control system to perform pin out testing. I discovered that the brake switch is a DUAL function switch. One circuit is NC to power the gray wire on the CC module with foot off brake. If that circuit is open/broken cruise will not set. The other circuit is NO to send batt+ signal to module when brake pedal is depressed. Just because your brake lights come on does not mean the switch is functioning properly. Guess it's just a built in redundancy to assure the cruise will disengage if the brake light circuit fails?
