Cruise Control Problems
Hey. I just had a question about an issue I've been having with my cruise control. I have a MT 2005 Civic Ex Special Edition. When I hit the dash cruise button, nothing lights up on the instrument cluster, but when I hit the set button, a light comes on saying CRUISE CONTROL. However, it does not hold speed. Any recommendations on what I should look at other than fuses? I'm going to check fuses today, but since the light comes on, I don't know why it would be those.
There is more then one circuit for the CC...
Start by checking the main CC fuse, probably in the under dash fuse box, test it in the fuse box with a 12V test light , NOT LED type, its a better test if there is a load, test at both test tips, test with ign. on in run or start.
That fuse should also power for indicator light in the main CC switch, make sure that switch is properly plugged in.
Then check the brake light switch, most Honda and Acura CC units have two inputs from the brake switch, one is the same as the brake lights, on when you step on the brake the other input is on until you step on the brake, it is a 2 pole brake switch.I assume MT stands for manual transmission if so there is also a switch on the clutch peddle, it supplies a ground to the CC unit when clutch is not stepped on, all 3 switch circuits will shut down or prevent CC working if switched, so you nee to confirm a 3 circuits are working properly.
I would also confirm that the black ground lead to the CC unit is properly grounded.
Also check the black ground lead to the CC actuator in the engine bay.
You said that you did not have an indicator light on the main CC switch, it may just be a burnt out light because the indicator in the cluster is turning on.
Anyway the above needs to be checked first. 94

Thanks for the help fcm. It turns out that the cable connecting the throttle and the cruise servo was just not there. I pulled one off a car in a scrap yard, and it worked beautifully.
