Default ... help me pic a new turbo!!!

... i am planning on getting a new turbo this winter... so what should i get?!?... budget is $800-$1000 max... (hoping to spend $600-700)... i have heard good things about precision turbos, but there isnt much info out there on them... anyways, what does everyone recommend???... run of the mill t3/t4e .63ar 60-trim?... or some thing else?...

if you were gonna buy a new turbo with this budget, what would you get???... thanks in advance...

What kind of power are you looking at producing?

300-375

.63 A/R
Stage III

.60 A/R
60 Trim

400-500

.82 A/R
Stage III

.60 A/R
60 Trim

The .63 A/R housing will have pretty good spool and still have great top end. The .82 A/R will have a bit more lag, but it will be a top end monster.

Will you be running this on a stock motor? What kind of fueling?

... well the goal is ($$$ depending) : 350-400 whp... forged internals (want to go ge sleeves, but $ becomes an issue)... fueling will be 550s and walbro in-tank...

... what are estimated spool times for the .63 and .82 a/r with a 1.8 liter gsr block?... what about sleeved to 2.0 liter?...

... lemme know... and thanks for the hella-fast response...

go with a .48 cause the other 2 is laggy. my .63 is laggy. Full boost on at about 3500-4000, but when it comes on holly ****.

for lower boost applications i would suggest the .48 a/r turbine with the 57 trim .60 a/r compressor. this setup has a very fast spool time and is still nice in the top end upto around 15lbs.

the otherside would be the laggier .63 a/r turbine with the 60 trim .60 a/r
laggy in the low end, but if you looking to boost more in the future, you might want to go with this to save yourself the trouble of changing the turbine housing..
hope this helps...

CHEAPTURBOdocCOM : what about the t3/60-1?... do you recommend this for my application?...

i am looking for :
- 350-400 whp
- low 12's
- decent spool (not too fast)
- a wicked top-end

... would the t3/60-1 work for these goals (with room to grow in the future)... or would i be better served with a t3/t4e 60-trim .82 a/r... please let me know... i will probably be ordering one these from you in the spring (or during the next gb, if there is one)... thanks for all your help...

i don't know where you guys get your numbers, but my friend with the following turbo:

T3/t04E
Stage 3 exhaust housing .48 trim turbine .60 A/r compressor and .46 trim compressor....

he pushes 28 lbs of boost, and drops to about 25 psi at his 8,500 rpm revv limit.

all i have to say is wow...

k, now back to the actual post subject.

yeah, you might be better off with a t3/60-1 with the .63a/r
if you dont mind it being a little but laggier with huge top end and lots of room to grow.

I suggest everyone looks at this site.. It makes it really easy to calculate what compressor you need.. www.turbofast.com.au go to turbo calcs and then turbo maps. put in the stats for your motor. I was playing with it and it looks like a 60-1 is way to big for my gsr motor at 15psi. I didn't check higher. the .60 trim t04e is ideal from 10-15 psi and will work higher. I hope this helps.

I have no answers for the turbine as I am just as cornfused. I am considering buying both turbine housing to try on my setup.

If cheap turb.com would like to donate one for testing purposes I will post my results for everyone.

I hope to buy the .63/.60 soon.. I would like to try the .48 with it just to see the differences.
