"I've owned this civic del sol since 2009. I bought it with 125k on it, it has 175K now. The body is not in the best shape but mechanically this car has been taken care of with regular maintenance and always garaged. It is the automatic 1.6 VTec model. Targa-top, the seals are in great shape and don’t leak. The seats are very comfortable compared to the stock del sol seats. It averages 27-36 mpg depending on time of year and driving conditions. It has a clarion head unit with JBL speakers with ipod hook up. It has a wireless antennae because the stock ones are faulty. The check engine light is on for the IAC control valve, it has been replaced. The Exhaust was Replaced with a used one, not brand new but in good shape. All interior pieces are intact and working condition, very hard to find the whole interior in this good of shape." -Previous Owner
What are some suggestions for the engine?

Nope that's a D16 VTEC engine which appears to be an auto(I see a solenoid on the trans). You really can't do anything to it without it being a manual, so I suggest an auto to manual swap then a b-series engine of some sort.
change the oil coolant and power steering fluid. then do a full ignition tune up which consists of: cap, rotor, plugs and plug wires. and if you're up for it bleed the brakes just to clear out the old nasty fluid. I'd also say fuel filter if it looks old. Save your money for paid I hate del sol's lol but I'm sure you could make it look nice

I'm trying to get the most for my money, so I'm looking at OEM kits. Any suggestions here? I'd like to buy as much at once as possible.
These are my first things before all else if I don't know the history of them.
Everything else won't outright kill the car in under two seconds like the timing belt can.
Cheerio
P.S. All the fluids come right after.

I'm taking it home on Monday, and I'll have like 3 days off work, so i hope to get as much done as I can.
I second the hondapartsnow website for OEM in the states. I use it to look up part numbers then go to the dealer here in Canuck land. Great resource.
I'm next to nothing and I have to drive to work the new few days with no inspection and missing a turn signal. I have a week to get it inspected. CEL is on. Wish me luck!

As you can see it's a HID conversion kit the ballasts were just stuck in the front end so I removed them and put some $40 h4 4000k bulbs.
Spectre filter on OEM intake (airbox removed)

Bosch spark plugs + Oil change
Car is making it through the winter very dependable.
Waiting on rear brake rotors and pads to arrive.
After winter I'm looking at ebay I/H/E
Come summer I'm looking at body work and paint
Right now I'm looking at front right LCA professional replacement

OP what seats are those? Don't look like del sol
Basically, if they don't have the brand of parts listed in that thread, don't buy them. Wait until they are available. This might be the best advice I can give you. Your spark plugs would have lasted a couple more days until the NGKs arrived.

I would assume that new coolant (radiator) and brake fluid (master cylinder) would have been replaced at that time of maintenance. Steering fluid change may or may not be needed (but is inexpensive). No need to do a tune-up unless it has a miss. If anything, maybe a set of plugs.. always start with the cheapest items first.
Nice score for $1200. Check IAVC threads here, should get it sorted out. As others have stated timing belt kit (water pump, tensioner, accessory belts, seals) for sure if no record of it in last 60K miles. New oil and PCV valve. Also a valve lash adjustment if no record in last 30K miles.
