Default Bad slave cylinder or clutch master cylinder?

I have a 97 civic and the clutch won't hold.
The pedal sinks down to the floor
I'm gonna replace whichever part is broken
But how can I tell if it's the slave cylinder or cmc?
If fluid comes out of the slave cylinder bleeder screw and pedal still sinks is it a bad slave cylinder?
And if fluid doesn't come out of slave cylinder bleeder screw but fluid disappears. Is this a bad cmc?

Is there fluid leaking from the clutch master cylinder at the top of the clutch pedal?

I haven't checked. Just got the car but asking so when I work on it in a while I know what to do and what to mark as broken
If there is fluid up there by the clutch pedal or any mess, a bad cmc?

If there's fluid leaking into the pedal area, then master cylinder is at fault. Have you tried simply bleeding the system? You may just have an air bubble.

I replaced both of mine (master and slave) because it was only like $40 total, and mine would engage the clutch, then I'd be sitting still at a stop, in first gear and then BAM - it would disengage the clutch! I'd try bleeding it first though just to rule that out. There is also an adjustment screw to adjust the free-play in the pedal, which could be out of whack maybe?

Thank Ron. Will check that

And koko
Previous owner said he pumped the pedal with his friend. But at this point idk if he literally just pumped it and didn't open the bleeder screw lol
I'll try bleeding it just incase before I switch Anything
And 40$? From where

Oh and if I the cmc looks clean and no fluid is down there
Either leak in a line or bad slave?
Does anyone know if b and d series slaves are the same?
I know the fitting is. But the mounting point?
I have a good b series slave culinder
