shift fork question
Hey guys looking to get some insight on my clutch woes. So I drive a 94 del sol 1.5 non vtec d15 and I installed a new clutch pressure plate and bearings. Problem is I mated the trans back to the motor and the shift fork seems like its stuck.it will only pull back about half way and I dosent seem like I can get the slave cylinder hooked back up beacuse of it.ive already drop out the trans again and repositioned the tb and fork and still the same.... am I doing somthing wrong?is there a trick to it? Any input would be great so I can get this buttoned back up. thanks
By what you descibed it sounds normal. The fork will only move freely by hand until it pushes the throwout bearing into the pressure plate.
You need to put the slave cyl. rod into the fork socket and apply firm pressure to force the slave piston to retact. While holding it in place start one of the bolts.
It's like changing brake pads, you have to push the caliper piston back to allow the new pads to fit over the rotor. The difference is with the slave cyl. the piston dosn't stay deperessed if you release pressure.
Unless I'm not understanding your problem.
