del sols tuning questions
Hi
my name is Vincent. im still a bit young but soonly getting 20 and
i dont have ALOT of experience in tuned cars. I have been searching for the last halfyear, year a car that would fascinate me.
I was walking the street with a friend one day..and saw an Honda Del Sol 94' overboosted. I just felt in love with this type of car. I talked alot about del sol's with friends and they all told me i would get annoyed by the low hp sols engines or things like this..
i was wandering if i could gear a Prelude Vtec engine into a del sol.. is it possible? is it dangerous coz of the low height of the car ? will the car keep rolling the road or keep visiting sides frequently. if i add a turbo..or maybe just a charger..should i upgrade horsepowers or torque. what is your opinion about it. i was just asking myself those questions. I've heard prelude engines + turbos on low height honda cars are pretty dangerous.. if u could give me some infos or just couple of ideas, suggestions with the type of engines i could add..
and also if u have suggestions about cool body kits or turbos just let me know.. i dont know alot but im interested into learning this car and eat everyone on road
i know i should ask this to real life closer honda experts and i will.. but i was just willin to know what kick *** looks & tuned del sols owners would think about it.
thnx.
plz excuse my english.. im french and live in quebec
peace.

Yes, you can put in the Prelude motor into the del sol. It pretty much shares the same engine swap options as a civic. The Prelude motor is referred to as an H22A and makes anywhere from 200-220 hp. Search on this forum to learn more details. Turbos and Superchargers will increase hp and torque. Turbos make more horsepower while superchargers are typically more reliable. Any B series engine will drop in with minimal work into the del sol. These engines are available in all of the integras from 1990. Some Del Sols came stock with a dohc (double over head cam) engine referred to as the b16, which made 160 horsepower. This model is called the Del Sol Vtec. This would be the ideal starting point if you are looking for power, however the Del Sol Si's engine has quite a lot of potential and aftermarket following as well. This engine is a Sohc Vtec engine rated at 125 horsepower. Try searching for things like "engine swaps" "b16, b18, H22" or even just "turbo" or "supercharger". There is A LOT more for you to learn, but if you truly are looking to get into imports you will learn fast. I learned pretty quickly, but I have A LOT more to learn as well. And coincidentally I am also in the market for a Del Sol Vtec. Good luck with your search and welcome to Honda-Tech.
And the car is only as dangerous as the driver.
