Default h22 del sol vs. jetta vr6

ok this topic is currently on its 5th page over on the vw vortex forums...

the people in there dont have a clue, and it sorta turned in to a honda bashing place because they dont want to accept the del sol would win...

my question is...what do you think... both cars have bolt ons... neither have forced induction and are lowered and have some cosmetic goodies...

what will win? both cars are 1995's

its not even a question, the del sol would win. i mean a prelude vtec runs quicker than a VR6, and a del sol is lighter than the lude and it has the same engine. do the math. here are some numbers:

1995 Volkswagen GTI VR6
0-60: 7.1
1/4: 15.5

1995 Honda Prelude VTEC
0-60: 6.7
1/4: 15.1

and like i said, the prelude VTEC is heavier than a del sol. almost 500 pounds heavier.

so yeah, those VW guys are jackasses for even debating this. its no question.

H22 Del Sol is a proven high to mid-13 second car. Unless the VR6 Jetta can swing those kind of numbers with some consistancy, it's not even a contest.

Most of the Vortex is full of **** anyway.

The Sol is in the low 14s-high 13s range.

The Jetta is a pig (and even more of a girl's car ). JFWY tim anto

This wouldn't even be a race.

uh i don't know who ran a mid-high 13 sec. w/a del sol but there is no way that would happen with just bolt on. my hatch witch is way lighter than a sol ran a 13.3 w/bolt ons. but nice try. either way the sol would win though vw's suck

a buddy of mine, with 93 del sol vtec, raced against a golf gti with vr6 at the track yesterday, and he beat him by two car lengths with i/h/e, the golf had i/e, both had similar reaction and 60'times.

they have a lot of torque, 165 ft lbs or so, but the rev limiter is what hurts them.

a sol with h22 would slaughter vr6 with jus bolt ons....if traction didnt slug em off the line.

those vortex guys love to bash ...[hans voice] my car was made in germany, we don't need to be technically advanced, we just need two more cylinders or a turbo to lose to you guys[/hans voice]

not to hate on v dubs....a lot of them are sweet, and a lot more luxurious than my hatch ....but the will own that VR6 unless it's turbo

well i have personaly driven both on many occasion and have owned a vr6 for the last 3 years, its a great car. I have no doubt that the H22 sol will win unless the guys driving is a crap driver!! My best time in my vr6 on kuhmo's was a 14.6 my brother did a 13.9 in a ex coupe w a stock h22 w/ an intake ! I am selling my vr6 in order to put a h22 in my hatch myself, so not that the vr6 is slow but it doesn't have the potential......

i agree with all of ya... majority over there are disagreeing, but whatever, i say line them up and go..

the vr6 is fun to drive, but parts are expensive and insurance is even worse, this is why im selling my jetta... haha yeah and to the guy who said its a girl car, i read in a poll that its the top choice of gay men... there is one big reason to drop this car... im makin the decision to give up the luxury to have fun with a civic again... police auction here i come

well.. they got alot more luxury than civics, i can tell you that. i think that's what he means. not like REAL luxury, with the voice-activated ****, and stuff like that.

ok my vr6 is fully loaded...i never had a fully loaded car before, and well this is really nice, for god sake the windshield washer nozzels are heated... the leather is nice and it has a lot of little details that really make it nice to drive, but i meant luxury as the fully loaded vw compared to fully loaded civic... i feel more comfortable in a civic to tell ya the truth...

but here is the link to the Vortex thread i was talkin about... lots of stupid people with their facts mixed up... too many to keep straight....

http://forums.vwvortex.com/zer...age=1

i am putting the vw up for sale as soon as i install the new water pump

your friend is the worlds worst driver then. he should own your SOHC Vtec. Thats what I have right now with bolt ons, and I used to won a 98 GTI VR6, and my GTI would ******* roll on my hatch.
