How long do HFC's last for ?
long story short got big fine for not cat
so got a magna flow one my car runs a bit rich and puts build up on the rear bumper even with the HFC. my question is how long do these things last before they get clogged I do a fair bit of driving with my teg in the summer/fall/spring. I may just punch the filters out of it and leave the shell to fool the cops. we have no e-test's in northern Ontario
so I've never needed one back home. I live in Toronto atm for school.

Well that's what I joined hondatech for back last year as i still haven't found the answer as to why lol. Car did this even with a virgin ECU. Well good to know thanks
A cat-less exhaust smells very different from one with a cat, so all you need to do is walk around to the rear of the vehicle and smell the exhaust. Or drive behind it...
An aftermarket cat is good for about 40,000 miles, provided the engine is in decent condition. If you haven't got the cash to fix the car properly, park the car until you do, or live with the problem.
If the engine remains in the same state-of-tune with or without a cat, your power will likely not be affected either way such that you'd notice.
But, if removal of the cat results in less backpressure, you may even end up with LESS power without the cat. Less backpressure means more extraction, so you might end up sucking out part of the new charge before the exhaust valve closes.
It's not a "filter".
A guy I used to know gutted his cat. I couldn't tell the difference between before and after, except for maybe 10% more exhaust noise afterwards.

Thank you Therealtegger some helpful info there. The cops are dumb here I only got caught cause I outright said I didn't have a cat and was being a smart *** lol. I may gut it when I get a muffler and resonator on the car currently just rocking a straight pipe

I didn't notice a difference in power when I installed a cat then removed it. This is on a yonaka WS-II 60mm piping. Only power loss I get is whe I turn my ac on.
