Default Help Redoing this piece

not sure what trim this is called but its the piece on either side of the roof on an ej2. I used an exacto knife to cut away then sand down the window trims like this but these pieces are giving me more trouble. is there any other method besides cutting or scraping the old black off?

40 grit sand paper, then 80 grit, then 320 grit and finish it with 800, scotch it before you paint

I would say not even worth the time and hassle of repairing, just buy new ones

In my opinion the fastest least labor intensive way would be to take a drill electric or pneumatic with a 2-3 inch soft / medium wire wheel (under $5.00 at Harbor Freight) and remove the original finish. It should remove it quickly and cleanly but, be careful not to warp the piece as doing so generates a lot of heat. After that go over it with a lighter sand paper 600-800, clean it real well, spray a DTM primer and then black trim paint and then you have a like new roof trim. It's not too hard but up to you if you want to put in the effort. Hope this helped and good luck.
