Default failed smog. 97 del sol/d16y8.

Its a sad day, had to get a smog check for my tags and I failed. Badly. Epic fail.
car is a gross polluter now ): guy said it did poor in 15 mph and his scanner wasnt reading my ecu, no communication.
Any ideas how I failed so miserably?

And my option 50a fuse was no good. Could that be it?

Check fuses 43 and 47.

Your engine is running very lean. Have you replaced the fuel filter?

Have you jumped the service connector to check for CEL codes that way?

Like RonJ said, your motor is running lean. What trim is your Del Sol? Are you using your original injectors, or are you using the Y8 injectors?

I will check those fuses, but i've checked all my fuses twice and they were good. Except I was missing the option fuse 50a but replaced it when I got home, do you know what that fuse is for?

Yes I have jumped my service connector for cel codes before if you mean the blue connector under the glove compartment.

no I havent replaced the fuel filter. I will go through the paperwork that the original owner had on his maintenance upkeep. I did smog this car when we got in 2012 and it failed, so the shop had us replace the o2 sensor and cat, then it ran straight 0s. Surprised only after a year, it failed as a gross polluter. How often should the fuel filter be changed?

Post pictures of the location of the 50A fuse.

Voltage test the specific fuses I mentioned. Click the fuses link in my signature.

And...what exactly happened? Have you jumped it recently? Details are needed if you want help.

The filter costs $20. It may have become clogged since the last replacement.

How often should the fuel filter be changed?
Whenever the fuel pressure drops below spec.

Note that the fuel filter/pressure is the first thing to consider, but there are other possibilities, particularly the ECU communication issue that MUST be resolved.

I jumped the connector last time and I believe it listed missfires in cylinder 2 and 4

This information should have been included in your first post. Post the actual code numbers. How about if you jump the connector NOW? If you reset the ECU, do the same codes return?

...and answers to other questions?

My voltometer isnt working so I have to get another one.

so here goes my underhood fuse box:

when I was wiring push start. The ignition fuse blew because I accidentally crossed wires. So I took option 50a out to put in my ignition fuse holder and rolled like that. I smogged my car without the option 50a fuse thats why I asked what is that fuse for, hopefully that's not what caused their machine to not be able to communicate with my car's computer. After I got my car smogged, I went to napa and picked up another 50a fuse and replaced it. I know without it, my power windows and doors didnt work.

Now every fuse works (only determined by indicator light) and everything works as well as better. As electrical goes but pretty sure crossing the wires messed up my alarm because its not working anymore. Its a viper alarm.

smogger thinks I failed communication with ecu because of some of my mods. Push start, alarm, and no stock steering wheel. I did not wire my alarm, a shop did

Alarm:

But, I did wire my horn and srs light bypass with a reputable diy on hondatech.com:

And I wired my push start exactly like this diagram:

I reset my ecu 2 days ago. Codes were: 72 and 74. It hasnt returned yet.

I just checked original owner's maintenance papers. Last time the fuel filter was changed 2009. Should I go about replacing it? And I guess it did fail for being lean as well in 2012. Literally spent 660 at a shop for a new cat and o2 sensor last year. I cant believe it didnt pass this this time around.

This is why some issues never get resolved on H-T. People leaving out information like this or not mentioning what has been done to the car in the first post, regardless if you think it's relevant or not.

What other things are wrong with this car?

he means what else have u put on it...

steering wheel has nothing to do with it
alarm has nothing to do with it
Push start is useless in civics, its just an extra "flashy" thing, u still have to use your keys.

there's obviously something else going on
if fuses are good and you're using your same injectors

change all filters in the car (fuel, oil, air, cabin air, all that)
clean out the cat

otherwise there's something else going on

N o t h I n g e l s e.

that was it.

Spark plugs replaced 2012.
cat replaced 2012.
o2 sensor replaced 2012.
Air filter replaced 2013.

this car motor is stock. No mods.

And before you go calling push starts a "flashy thing" find out the reason before judging. Mine is for security purposes, its not out in the open. And I know plenty of people in my area who has had their ignition destroyed so they installed a push start. Theres always a reason for a mod not just for little fan boys.
And if some people do mods because they like it even if its "rice" I respect that too. Cant stand when honda people cant help but bash.
