I just bought a 1992 civic hatch. Then engine in it now is a y5 block with z6 head. What I wanted to do is pull that engine and swap in the original vtec engine with direct plug. Same head and block. The 1992 has obd1 correct? I have been searching for a week and get more confused as I read. Any information would be great.

 

well, you dont know what the original owner did to it and neither do we.

So we really cant answer it. But if you search around for wiring diagrams and how your current swap is wired, then you can proceed from there.

 

Yes 92-95 civic is obd1

 

92-95 civic vtecs has obd1 with p28/po8 ECU

Sorry guys for the long reply. I was investigating on my car. It is a cx. In the car was a z6 head and y5 block. I ended up pulling that motor and selling it. I bought a complete z6 that I am throwing in there. I got the engine for 150 with 88, 000 with paperwork and a si tranny. Thanks all for the response.

EG's actually came with a B16a

EH2/3 are the North American 92-95 Hatchbacks

EJ1/2 are the North American 93-95 Coupes

EG8 is the North American 92-95 Sedans

Please stop referring to ALL 92-95 Civics EG's

 

To give him credit the name if this sub forum is EG/EK. I don't mind if people call it that but it just bugs me when asking for tech help you also need to list your year,make,model as EG/EK tells me nothing.

 

i think nearly everyone calls 92-95 civics "EG" an 96-00 civics "EK". its just something that has developed of the years. just like calling an 88-91 civic an "EF".

Look at the subtitle under the title of this forum. its says: "EG/EK Civics Discussion"
