upstream 02 sensor

Default upstream 02 sensor

i hate to ask for help on my first post but i really need help and you guys seem like yall know your honda's.

my car 2000 honda civic ex 5 speed, D16Y8.

im getting the 01 cel code for upstream 02 sensor, so i replace it with this one here click link to see http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sk...html?loc=Front

and cleared the cel but after about 4 min. the cel came back on, i pulled the same 01 cel code. please help this is second 02 sensor i have ordered first one was wrong conector.

Inspect the wires from the O2 sensor plug to the ECU. One of them is probably damaged.

I just made that mistake also . either way I would follow jbpnoman's suggestion if all is intact then I'd test the wires them self's you'll need a ECU pinout sheet if you end up needing to do that.

ok thanks ill give that a try tonight or tomorrow.

did the 02 sensor thats in the link i posted look like the right one?

i forgot to mention that the car has a header on it stock exhaust with catalytic converter. and a cold air intake.

all was on the car when i got it.

Is it running rough?

If so check to see if it is in tight, really crank down on it when you tighten it.
The exhaust is the first part of a car to really heat up.

One time this happened and I reached down and could spin it with my finger and thumb

Check your wires. A bad downstream O2 will actually throw an inefficient catalyst code, not the code you're seeing.

yes some times it will like cut out at half trottle, but at full trottle it will regain power.

and at idel it will choke itself out.

its tight i checked that.

Well I seen today that the header has two places were you can put the upstream sensor, the upstream sensor is in the first hole, and the downstream is in the second near were the exhaust connects to the header. To some it up both upstream & downstream are before the catalytic converter.
