Default 90 Hatchback ignition or starter issue

So this is my friend's car... he'd been having issues with the actual key ignition system. The car would give ignition after several tries jiggling the key, sometimes it would start. I replaced the actual key system for him (I'm pretty sure there's a name for that part but it just doesn't come to mind). Now the car still won't start. When I make the final turn of the key I can here a small click that sounds like from behind the dashboard (kinda like behind the radio), so I believe that tells me the key system is already working fine. I tested the starter just by jumping it with a wire with the ignition on, and the car starts fine. Checked fuses (only found one for starter below the dash) and everything seems fine... so any other suggestions of what else to check would be appreciated.

Possibly the Ign switch, not the cylinder portion, but the actual electrical switch.
that clicking your hearing is could be the main relay (located behind the coin pocket)

when the key is turned all the way back, trying to start it, do you still hear the click or do you hear nothing? if its nothing more than likely it is the ignition switch.
thats where i would start.

EFmine, you have a thing for automatically calling out ignition switches ive noticed lol.

Yes.... The click I here is actually when I turn the key fully as if starting it... And it sounds like the click of a relay. Weird thing is that the old ignition switch did eventually start it... It would take some jiggling because it was all messed up... Replaced that one and now All I get is that "click"
