Vtec solenoid is missing and capped but leaking oil. Help
I just bought an 89 civic ef and it has a zc block with what I have been told to be a d15 head. The vtec solenoid is missing and capped but leaks oil. The valve cover also has the spark plugs in the back? Odd to me. I want to know if I were to get a vtec solenoid would it bolt on and work. I know a little wiring might be required. It also has dpfi. I need a little help in the right direction.

if it looks like that, its a D15b head.
I could be wrong, and probably am, im not very good with Hondas, but from my understanding if your rockers lock and your cam has an extra, larger, lobe for the intake, yes. otherwise you would have a non vtec head and throwing a vtec solenoid on there would pretty much be like throwing a turbo onto an electric car.
until you figure all that out, if it were my car i would honestly just pull off the cap and just throw some silicone on the mating surface and let it dry up.
and also, if im not mistaken, that d15b in the picture is a non vtec.
He is correct on one thing. You can see if you have the extra middle lobe or rocker in your valve assembly. It will be known as Lost Motion Assembly (LMA(s)). Only vtec heads have them. Just pop the valve cover off and look underneath the cam for 3 rockers per valve. Or atleast thats what DOHC vtec engines have, should be the same for SOHC. I could be wrong in that part as well
sounds to me like you have a SOHC ZC (non-VTEC) that was originally equipped with dual carbs and what you are seeing is a plate blocking off the hole in the head where the mechanical fuel pump used with the carbs was mounted
is it on the back of the head close to the distributor end? like this?

just take the plate off and put new sealant on it

Ok yes it is the same head as the one in the picture. So what should I do know to get more power. I was told to convert to mpfi. What would that do. Other than that I'm clueless. Thanks for the help so far very much appreciated.
It would give you an individual injector dedicated to each cylinder and a bit more power. The conversion would need to be done if you ever swap to another engine as well.

want more power? mpfi then boost. just finished my junk yard turbo build using a stock std cast manifold, a td05h 14b from an eagle talon and an adapter plate with an ebay intercooler kit. pulls haarrrrrrrrrrrrd. got it street tuned so not sure how much power it makes, but i'm happy
Ok so to go mpfi to start where would be a good place to buy one? I know there are aftermarket ones as well but I don't really have any clue of which to get.
Go to the junk yard to get intake injectors distributor and all the plugs you will need oh and you new an Ecu.... And patience with the wiring
