Default 5 Speed Shifter Lubrication/D16 93 Hatch

My shifter has always been a lot harder to go through gears than other 5th gens I've driven, & it's getting a little annoying lately. Would anyone happen to know how to lubricate the ball at the base of the shifter or how to go about that? I've already tried different tranny fluids. Tried HONDA MTF, GM Snycromesh, & 10w30 sythentic motor oil. The Oil awkwardly works the best for some reason, but the shifter still shows resistance.
