One thing I haven't done alot of research on yet is honda trannys...I know all the basics but I'm hitting a wall at one point...maybe someone can help me out

I'm looking to go with a hybrid tranny for the car im putting together now...Right now I'm thinking I will just use the GSR transmission that I get with my swap package but I want to possibly change out a gear or two to optimize this thing for drag racing and freeway cruising...

I know alot of people go with an LS 5th gear for smooth highway cruising but what are the more common setups for 3rd/4th gears ?
How do I tell which gears are swappable between which trannys...anyone have a link ?

hello, making a hybrid tranny for your motor is prolly the last thing to do after you have finished dynoing the motor. Here's what you should do:

- dyno motor with your stock gsr tranny in about 4th gear after tuning.
- when you're done tuning the motor then examine your torque curve to determine the shift points
- after you have decided on the slick sizes you're gonna use you then use an excel spreadsheet to compute your final gear ratio to ground and for each gear of your GSR tranny with shiftpoints.
- based on the shiftpoints you can then determine which gears need changing

clue: the 94+GSR or even better is the 94/95 del sol vtec tranny are the best to use for boosting.

All the 92+ counter and main gears are interchangeable.

Does that mean that '92 ls 5th gear would work in GSR or B16 hydro tranny? Thanks.

hello, yes 92+ LS 5th counter and mains fit into GSR/Type R and B16a trannies.
