my del sol hesitates and stalls
So I have a 95 del sol with mt. The car sat about 2 years. I tried driving it yesterday, seemed fine at first, then stalled at 3 stop signs in a row, all within about 5-7 minutes of driving, it did restart but with difficulty. I had to have it towed back home. It had about 2-3 gallons of gas in it which I assumed might be bad, so I added about 4.5 gallons of fresh gas and put in gas cleaner. I tied it again this morning and still isnt working. It does start and idels fine, but when I go to give it gas it hesitates, If I give it gas slow and smooth I can get the rpms all the way up, but if I give it faster, like when starting from a stop it just conks out, even with the car in neutral. Any suggestions, need this car to go to work,
Do you have a engine light. you might need to pull your spark plugs, inspect and clean them, you can usually tell if your running lean or rich from them. It sounds strange but sometimes letting a car idle for a long time after its been sitting up cures these issues. I also would check the distributor to ensure its tight and the cap doesn't have condensation under it.
Plugged fuel filter maybe - you have a flow problem for sure - you said you can nurse the rpms all the way up but a stab on the gas and it falls on it's face. You can try a heavy dose of Seafoam and see if you "get away with it".
If you really want to clean it up, you should drop the tank, blow out the lines, don't forget the return, pull the fuel rack and clean it and the injectors up.
Sitting for 2 years with a couple gallons of gas (without any stabilizer), and then sending that gas to the engine is bad news.

clogged fuel filter, bad gasoline in the system, bad fuel pump, and perhaps a bad gas tank.
Did you use fuel stabilizer or siphon the fuel out of the tank prior to letting it sit?
Was the car left outside or in the garage?
