Serious technical thoughts on the effects of altitude......
I have been thinking over the past couple of days about the common topic of altitude and its effects on HP, and 1/4 mile times.
My theory:
Because air is a MIXTURE not a compound, there are varying ratio's of elements that make up the substance. There is not a set level of the concentration of these elements in the air we live around. With that in mind, the ratio of Oxygen, Nitrogen, and the other elements, will vary according to altitude, and other laws of nature. Also keep in mind, that each element has a different molar mass. now because Oxygen has a molar mass of 16, and Nitrogen has a molar mass of 14, Oxygen will naturally be closer towards the bottom of the mixture. At higher altitudes a turbo is compressing more Nitrogen and other elements to result in a concentration that has less Oxygen compared to the same setup at a lower altitude and same boost pressure.
Any comments?
Thanks

Just search the web, you can get exact numbers for everything you've been thinking of...the topic has been examined thorougly by many
True.........
Yet I get totaly different responses from each of my forums, and every time the topic is posted
