Default Remote Trunk Release - Honda Civic Fifth Generation

Has anyone retrofit a fifth generation civic with an OEM remote trunk release?
I'm not sure if an of the 92-95 Civics ever had this option.
Is there one from another model that will work?

From what I just read it isn't that difficult but the interior is going to need to be ripped out. Unfortunately I have yet to find a DIY.

You can add an aftermarket actuator and control module (controlled by a security alarm system). Trunk release option was never offered for the 5th or 6th gen Civics.

I have a manual trunk release in both my 97 hatch and 96 coupe.

Possibly I am misunderstanding the term "remote".

Press a button on your alarm fob (the one that locks and unlocks the doors) and it unlocks the trunk.

I would prefer to go OEM.
Somebody somewhere must have retro fit it from another model.
I'm, assuming it would be from an Acura.

Why bother with an OEM alarm/keyless system? It's not like you can easily add sensors to it.

It does. Optional auxiliary function.

I know it has an auxiliary function. I'm talking about sensors, not accessories such as trunk release.

Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear.
I have a EJ1. I purchased an alarm system (Viper) with key less remote entry.
It has Optional auxiliary function on the fob, that will control a trunk release.
I would like to utilize an OEM electric trunk release.

I was wondering if it's possible - if anyone has successfully tried it.

NEXT TIME, at least be more detailed. From your initial post, you made it sound like you are using a factory keyless system.

Since that's the case, Honda never made a electric trunk release for the 5th Gen Civics. Just check out the link I gave you and add a control module and actuator and be done with. No need to make it more difficult than it is.

There is no compatible honda or acura powered latch. You will need to attach an actuator as mentioned.
