It goes past 3,,it goes to 5and as soon as v Tec. Pops ,it won't go further. Just replaced new harness,,same crap....... So make a long story short I forgot to plug in my speed sensor and cel came on obviously but anyway drove it around the neighborhood and v Tec pops with out speed sensor????? Any ideas ,,its not the ecu ,distributor,or wiring harness,,new speed sensor,, ??????
I had a buddy who has the exact same build...his vtec would engage then drop out almost instantly...we thought no oil pressure...but luckily another one of my buddies is a genius with Honda's and ended up pulling the ecu and finding out that the ECU was chipped and pronged the wrong way....any, we fixed that and now everytime we hit tec the speedo goes nuts....we are in the process of changing the dash harness due to faulty wiring... So maybe try checking your dash harness...When we figure it our i'll update you and tell you what it was!
I know there is a cable under the hood on the drivers side that the voltage goes with the rpm's. you can see what the problem is by checking the voltage while revving. if the number fluctuates with the rpm's, then the problem is the actual cluster. if not, then the speed sensor or wiring was the issue.
I have tried my brothers 95 db8 ,dizzy, ecu, speed sensor, I have changed cabin and harness as well as the engine harness and still same bustin out,,I have ran out of options.the motor is 98 ls block with type r pistons gsr head oil pump water pump skunk two intake manifold cosmetic head gasket Hastings rings and acl race bearings, gsr trans built by thang from Conover,,it's not my set or build.any suggestions??
