Default water pump

i have a honda ccord '90 lx (146,000 mi)and the water pump leaks and was advised to might as well have the timing belt changed (coz i wonder if the first owner did changed it)to while replacing the water pump would i need to have cam shaft belts and balance belts too changed? can i do it in my backyard or would i need a lift or hoist?

yeah, your timing belt runs from your cam to your crank pulley(balancer)

there is one other belt that runs your altenator, power steering, and A/C

There's two belts involved. One is the timing belt. It goes around the camshaft pulley and the crankshaft pulley. It also runs your water pump. Your motor also has a balance shaft in it. There is a seperate belt for that. It goes fromt the crankshaft pulley to the balance shaft. Both of these belts and the water pump are behind the timing belt cover. You'll have to take off the power steering pump and alternator and stuff to get to it. Get a haynes manual and it will tell you everything you need to know.

The belts on the outside that you can see; there is one for the power steering pump. The other runs the alternator and the A/C compressor.

You can probably find someone to do it for around $500-700. Its kind of a big job and you need the right tools. You will need an impact wrench for removing pulley (might as well put lighter ones in there).

Yes do water pump, all belts and pulleys if you have the $.

Do as much as you can while you are in there. Will save time & $ in the long run.

I work at an autoparts store in Canada and you should only ask for a Cam belt (also known as timing belt) and Balance shaft belt, and no the waterpump only comes with gaskets and o-rings!!
You will need to order cam and crank seals and balance shaft seals!!
