Cutting 1 coil of fr Eibach Springs?
OK, silly question, I have 1.7" Eibach sportline springs and want to cut a coil off the front to make it lower than the rear a little maybe 1.8" on front. Do I cut a coil off the top or cut a coil off the bottom of the spring? Any reply will help.
Thanks!
Thanks!
By cutting them you will mess up the the ride quality they spent all this time getting right for you specific vehicle. The spring rate will be affected and its just overall a bad decision.

cut it off the bottom. cut straight up from the end of the last coil.
ONE coil won't affect your ride quality. i've done it on Eibachs.
have fun.
Sheesh!!! I keep getting conflicting stories on this!!! NEVER!!! and 1 coil is OK, but never cut stock springs, I dunno.
I wouldn't suggest cutting coils. Everyone I know that's done it has had nothing but problems. Find some that are lower if you want a lower drop.

cutting one, two, and sometimes three coils is NO BIG DEAL.
my friend has Eibach Pro-Kit springs and we cut one coil off each of the rear springs and it rides EXACTLY the same. and lowered the rear end another .25".
is there a such thing as heating you springs and getting them compressed? JW im happy with my drop i have now.
eibach makes springs a certin height, with certin spring rates for a reason, when you the end user starts messing with them you can do nothing but harm the ride quality/ safety of these springs. they spent a hell of alot of time doing R&D to match those springs to your car. there a reason there the way they are.

Well I appreciate everyones replies, I believe that you guys have much more knowledge than me on this subject, and of course I don't want to mess up my beautiful CRX, so I think I will take everyones advice and get me some coilovers or some new springs. The only reason I don't want to spend so much money on new suspension is because I want my b16 already!!!

yes, i have heard and seen ppl that have their stock springs heated and the car dropes down lower. Its about $20 and give you way better ride quality then cut stock springs.

i was mearly trying to inform him of why his spring set was at that height and why its a bad idea to change that. it could possibly be a safety issue, if not a ride quality issue... he is adult enough to take my FACTS and use them whatever way he wishes... he dosnt need you to tell me to **** off. if he wanted to do that he would have told me to. instead he thanked those who helped and is making a good decision.
yes you can cuts springs. i would suggest using something like a plasma cutter to do so. but i am still firmly against anybody doing that.

Buy some Konis, you can lower the perch height to absolutely dump your car all the way around with the sportlines.
