Default What should I be expecting with new basemap/chip?

Hey guys so tomorrow I'm going to my locale shop (teknotik in Toronto) and I'm going to put on a new basemap and chip on my p28 and I was wondering what the difference would be in power wise and the way my car will run? The first owner had a basemap done by a friend in a garage kinda thing but this shop I'm going to has a few different set ups.

My car:
99 b20b
Port and polished head
Sk2 intake mani port matched
Sk2 66mm throttle body
Aem v2 intake
4-2-1 hytec header
New magnaflow cat
Apexi ws2 axle back
Welbro 255 fuel pump
Obd2-obd1 with p28 ecu

I'm only guessing 2-3 hp maybe ?? But more so my car will run better I would hope

why dont you have them tune it instead of doing just a basemap?

A dyno tune is 400$ and a new custom basemap they have already set up for my motor with bolt ons. The basemap and chip = 30$

highly suggested you spend the 370 bucks more

iv seen very bad results from running a burned chip for a hypothetical engine combination on far from stock engine.

a dyno is the best way to find what timing and fueling your exact engine will need.

i honestly bet you will be disapointed with lack of power or bogging from running too rich.

I cant believe people still ask this question. A basemap is good to drive the car to a TUNER, thats about it. Do it right or dont do it at all.

x2^

Basemaps are only good enough to drive to get to the tuner. Dont cheap out on a 400$ tune when youve got $$$ in your engine.

your asking the same question and expecting different results... that's normally called insanity... the answer is no... get a tune period... I've got basemaps that swing from 10.5afr to 18.0afr in the same map... It's not safe over any length of time past the time to drive it to a tuner... If your not going to take care of your investment then ship it to me and put a damn d16 in your car and run the stock ecu... why do you think they call it a BASEmap... its a base to go off of... most basemaps don't even have ect comp... so what does that mean to you??? the temp goes down in winter and your engine is going to run ridiculously lean... good luck with that...

A basemap on a stock motor is hard enough to deal with. As people have said, a basemap is enough to get a car started and get it to a tuner. The area i live in is a nightmare with this stuff. People put a simple basemap in and wonder why after a few months their car is smoking, or using excessive fuel, or other things like that. And then when you have a stock motor and put a bunch of bolt-ons on it, it gets even worse for someone to setup a simple basemap. Plain and simple, it needs a tune. Dont be so cheap.

THEN DON'T DRIVE IT. Your engine is significantly modified and there is nobody on the planet that can base that setup safely with any decent power.
Or you can trust their blind guessing and pay even more to replace your block when you shoot a rod through the side of it.
Don't be stupid, you asked for our help, LISTEN TO US.
