must fully retard distributor to sync with computer. doesnt seem right
i warmed my car up, b18b with s300. i open hondata and lock the time 16 degrees. the only way i can get them to match is if fully retard the distributor. and that doesnt seem right. no my cam timing isnt off a tooth the car runs fine but ignition timing is important and its got me worried lol since im going to be tuning it soon. every car ive ever had was like this and i dont think it could be my snap on light.....if it makes and difference i have crower cams degreed in but BARELY had to adjust them. i dont think that would effect it.....thanks for your inputs and ideas
A few years ago, I rebuilt a distributor with some new sensors and when I went to start my motor it wouldn't run. The timing was way off like you have stated. I pondered over it a while, pulled it apart again and this time when I pinned the drive gear on the distributor end I put it on 180 degrees off. The car started right up and timing was in the middle of the range. Just a thought.
Also I have read that Hondata has to be sync'd to whatever tooth number your distributor wheel is. Did that get changed?

you're down to a distributor issue or cam timing. it literally can't be anything else, that's the only thing that dictates signal to the ICM.
What did you set the intake cam gear to after you degreed your cams?
That will offset your distributor timing and the distributor only has a +/- 2* range of adjustment.
