Icon2 88 Crx Si Vtec swap

I have a 88 Crx Si with the D16a6 in it that just locked up. I'm buying a D16y6 bottom with a D15b head. I know I'll need a jumper harness and a distributer adapter clip but does anyone have any advice about putting it in and making it work? I'm getting the computer for the motor with it.

re use your stock engine harness, create a sub harness for vtec and the 4 wire o2 sensor, and then buy an ecu and distributor jumper harness. you will also need to swap the drivers side engine post mount over to your new motor. while the motor is out it would be a good time to clean the bay, replace all the vacuum lines, coolant lines, gaskets and belts that look worn out or old, as well as inspect your clutch

Agreed. Might want to replace the clutch though. Even if it looks just a tad poor. It's more of a pain to do it later than now. And I would replace the water pump and timing belt. Just to be safe since the engine will be easily accessible. Other than that, wire up Vtec and it should be a direct match. The VTEC wiring is easy. I just used a plug from the junkyard for mine and clipped it together and ran wires from the sensors to the plug. Then from the plug to the ECU just like any other wiring in the engine bay. Simple simple. Like 4 wires total I think.

No idea what a D16Y6 is.

Before anything, what ECU are you going to use?

If you are going to use an OBD1 ECU then you need;
4 wire O2
OBD1 vtec distributor (From D15B or D16Z6)
OBD1 jumper harness.

Most every decent jumper harness has a good length of wire that you pull through your firewall to the O2 and vtec solenoid. If you get one liek that, then no real need to create any subharness. Just run the wires and add the appropriate connectors.

You will also need to decide what injectors you will want to use. If you stay with your A6 injectors then there is no modification to be done. If you go with the D15B injectors, then you will need to modify or change out to the right injector clips as well as delete your injector resistor box.

You will need to extend the wires for the radiator fan switch from the back of the block (stock A6 location) to the thermostat housing (D15B location).
