2007 HCH replace control arm bushings?
Hi, I need some advice for our family car, 2007 HCH.
I need to drive down to South Carolina from Maryland in a week. Today the dealer said that the control arm bushings are cracked and need to be replaced. I am wondering, do I need to replace these urgently? They quoted us $630 and that's kind of expensive. They would not give me a straight answer as to whether its dangerous.

Is it your rear upper control arms the dealership quoted you on?
Reason I'm asking is due to a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that's out on your car. The same TSB is for my 07 Civic as well which requires new control arms for the fix. $630 sounds like an awful lot specially for bushings I'm assuming they are including the alignment etc? Still I would ask for more detail if your car has been shaking and there is uneven tire wear then you need a new set of upper rear control arms. Just my opinion and something to look into before spending $630.

Probably too late now, but....
That TSB isn't for worn or cracked bushings. It is for an alignment problem that causes rear tire cupping/rapid wear.
I assume you are talking about compliance bushings on the front lower control arm. No it isn't dangerous. Cracking isn't a cause for replacement, either. Wait until they break. It could be years from now. You will know when it happens, because the control arm will contact the cradle and cause knocking noises. Even broken, they aren't dangerous, just noisy.
If those are the bushings in question, the price is too high. More like $400 tops. If they say it needs an alignment because of that repair, they are either ignorant or lying.
