Default Installing timing belt b20/v

I have a aftermarket pulley on my b20v and i need to remove it to replace the timing belt but the honda key doesnt fit the unorthodox pulley because the pulley isnt shaped like a hexagon like the hex key.? So what do i do? or do i HAVE to remove the pulley to replace timing belt any tricks?

Are you talking about the crank pulley? You don't need to remove that.

It will need to be removed in order to get to the the lower timing belt cover. I've always taken the starter out and had someone brace either a ball joint separator or a lugnut wrench or something sturdy against the bolts on the flywheel, while I kick the **** out of the breaker bar attached to the crank bolt.

Alternatively, you could use an impact gun.

Well without a cover it should be easy to see the timing belt crank pulley, just slip the timing belt over the large crank pulley and there you go. Although I would really recommend putting the lower cover on, if you get a rock or something popping in there while you're driving, you might destroy your engine.

right i plan on that but i dont see the difference whether i take the pulley off or leave it on it shouldnt make putting the timing belt on that much difficult. Is my belt to small or what? i used the same belt on my b16 so it shouldnt be to small .

The size of the belt has nothing to do with the crank pulley. The belt doesn't ride on it.

The timing belt runs on the timing belt drive pulley.

The B20 block has a taller deck height than the B16A, and thus uses a longer timing belt. You want a P72 timing belt from a GSR/ITR.
