Default Exedy clutches

I am in need of another clutch. I do not have much to spend, so I was looking at the stage 1 and 2 exedy clutch sets. I will be running a Fidanza flywheel to go along with it.

Back story.
Ran the teg at atco and noticed I was slipping in every gear. More so into 2nd and 3rd and minor slippage into 4th. I netted a best of 14.9 @ 94mph with a 2.2 60foot. The sedan is full weight plus jack , spare, two amplifiers and a 10'' sub and bandpass box. Currently , I am running a luk gold clutch which is 3 years old. It just cant take the aggressive shifting. :-/

I have not had experience with the exedy stage 2 as its a 3 puck. I really dont like or want the chatter, but I need something thats going to take the abuse.

So will the stage 1 exedy be plenty? It states its 40% more clamping force over their oem replacement.

Of money is tight and you want a good clutch cheap get an F1 stage 4 racing clutch on eBay. There inexpensive and hold good power and last. When mine finally started slipping a few years back I though the clutch was toast. When I took it out the disc looked like new flywheel and pressure plate were worn. That's after 20k miles or so.

i know it goes against all your wisdom but the clutch was a great clutch. Held up much better than my comp stage 5 did. The exedy is a good clutch too. if you want to abuse a clutch and are makign decent power you have to make a trade off. And once learn how to drive with a puck clutch there pretty smooth. Also six puck will be smoother than 4 or 3 puck

I am not a fan of f1 racing. Just wondering if anyone would recommend a stage 2 exedy. I dont know anyone that runs one or has had one. Ive heard a lot of good things about the stage 1 though. i was looking at competition clutch etc. not sure what a decent one to go with is though. I really dont want to throw money away on a clutch as I will be doing this job in a rock driveway and I would hate to do the install agian lol.

Stage 2 exedy doesn't really chatter much, its a nice clutch depending on the power you're making ( I don't think you mentioned that ) . Competition is also a nice clutch, and is very well priced. We're distributors of both companies and can offer quick shipping and good prices if interested, IM me or call us tomorrow. 708 599 5884.

Well I can vouch for clutch masters. I've had an fx400 fx500 and currently running an fx700 twin. All great clutches. The stage 5 with upgraded pressure plate was surprisingly smooth engagement with the 6 pick disc. The fx400 was also nice from what I remember. You can get the stage 5 without the upgraded pressure plate for a very fair price.

I absolutely love my Stage 1 Exedy organic clutch in my CD. Grips and slips very nicely.

Been abusing an oem replacement Exedy clutch in my Prelude for 8-9 years and 100s of drag passes now, ranging from ~100 whp with the old H23a1, up to 300 on nitrous into the H23Vtec the last 2 years, still holding up great.

Also running a Stage 1 Exedy with 12 lb flywheel in my 275 WHP Subaru, and it is holding up great for the last 2 years since install.

You'll be fine with the stage 2 from exedy then.

It looks like I am going with competition clutch stage 1.5 and their 12lb flywheel combo. I can get the package for like 375$ or so.

exedy stage1 clutch. they have a firm but comfortable pedal feel, i bought mine from my buddy that had a sohc turbo, my buddy had it in his car for 2 years, i had it in my sohc turbo for 2 years and now my neighbor has it in his sohc turbo that runs mid 12's for about a 1 year. the stage 1 exedys are beasts, my buddy with a stock bottom end b20vtec turbo in a crx made 453whp and ran 10.7@130+mph with a stage2 exedy, so they make badass clutches!!!

radials perhaps, but I feel slicks would be pushing it. the stage 4 would be your best bet , and the price still isnt bad. http://www.customcarscentral.com/scc...r--94-01-.html
