Ive posted this in tech 3 times and got no help so perhaps someone here can help me>>>>>

i turn the key to the on position and it has no power, the car will crank but not stay running, it dies immediately, what could cause this and what can i do to fix it. I tried replacing the key cylinder and that did nothing, the problem still exists.

 

i'm assuming you've already checked the fuses both under the dash AND on the shocktower?

what do you mean by it has no power in the on position? do you mean you dont get idot lights, etc?

 

Is your battery and/or ground wires corroded? I'm having the same problem this morning as well. I start my car, it starts then dies, but I was able to get it going the second time and I had power in the on position. Then when I get driving for a while, it just cuts out. Did it twice within 5 minutes and then I could drive 40 miles to work with no problems.

I was thinking distributor (ignitor or coil), but I also had a simular problem when my CRX cut out on me on the highway once due to bad ground wires and corrosion.

 

My first impression is that you have a bad main relay. Other things to check are that battey grounds and the ignitor.

You may want to invest in a HELMS manual and start going through the troubleshooting stuff in it.

 

i just fixed it...i bipassed the igniton with a relay and toggle switch and wired in a push button start, thanks for the advice though
