Car Rolls when parked While in Gear
I went to fire up my car this morning and let off of the ebrake while my car was parked in 1st gear and the car kinda stuttered then started to roll back...
the car was off... i cant ever remember this happening before and its not a steep incline...is my tranny going out on me? any suggestions? it did drive fine...

Mechanically, this cannot happen (assuming the car runs) unless:
a) there is no holding force left in the clutch
b) the gear wasn't fully engaged (halfway in)
c) you have no axles
d) you are missing teeth on a gear inside your transmission
e) you have stripped the splines on your mainshaft (like Sakai)
Did I miss any?

I've had that happen in various cars. All conditions being right, the wheels can backdrive the engine through the gears. I don't think it's *necessarily* a problem.
umm.. if his clutch is fully engaged and its still slipping then he has a serious problem.. I don't think thats the prob..
Edit: I don't even think that is possible.. unless your flywheel fell out of your transmission or something.. LoL!

Are you sure you were in first gear? In higher gears its much easier for that to happen. If fifth for instance its quite easier to push a car slowly while its in gear.
its just like trying to turn the crank pulley... as soon as you get compression... no more movement... so:
A: you are really loosing compresion in your engine...
B: you were pressing the clutch and not realize it... ive done that before.hehe
if it just rolled a little bit it was your engine making a complete rotation... if it kept on rolling.... then i dunno wtf youve done to your car.
