Default Temp Gauge Not Reading Correct

Hey guys it seems that my temp gauge would go all the way to hot but the engine is fine, does anyone know what could be wrong?

the wiring could also be shorting to ground. i believe with the sender, when grounded, the needle goes pegged. and given it's location, the wiring insulation is extremely susceptible to becoming brittle and cracking, leaving the strands exposed

if it is a 92 to 96 prelude then you should look into the actual dash gauge cluster assembly. the fuel gauge and temp gauge assemblies tend to tear up and the temp will read hot like it is overheating although nothing is wrong and temp is at normal.
