Hey folks, Ive been having a bit of an issue with my car, The VIN pops up saying its an ABS car. I have had a few issues with the car as I went to replace an axle and when asked for my VIN i gave them the 2HGE part they looked at me funny.

So can anyone help me out here? Im worried I may have bought a Frankenstein car. The axle was replaced with one that looked the same, I think it was an ABS axle, 25 spline inboard and 27 (I think) outboard. i have to replace a wheel bearing as well, as it has been humming.

Any advice would be greatly received.

 

I didn't think the LX came with abs ?. which vin are you going by are they all matching. if it did some once could have simply ripped it out and left the other components (which is fine) but maybe that's just the DX that didn't the Si/SiR did 100% I know that.

 

I only know of the VIN on the dash board. I have read that ABS was an option on the LX models. I'm racking my brain over this one, does the "2" in the VIN signify anything in particular?

Yes, first number, the VIN on the motor matches.

Yep. And as far as the axles go the only difference is the ABS axles have a tone ring/trigger wheel. You can use an ABS axle in a non-ABS car just fine (frequently you will get an ABS axle regardless of what you specify)

 

When im ordering parts, should I specify USDM or JDM parts? The USDM axles went in just fine.

 

USDM, no one in the automotive parts industry is going to have any idea about anything JDM, and there's not going to be a lookup for it anyway. If you have a JDM swap or some sort (which wasn't mentioned anywhere I might add) you'll have to figure out what USDM vehicle to source the parts from.
