ECU question
i own a 94 civic sedan im runnning a 1.6 d16z6 vtec engine, but im running the wrong ecu im running a P06 when i should be running a P28 i have one but its bad it does not let me shift gears and it wont turn on without help of the gas pedal. so i figureed ecu is bad so im still running my P06 and it runs okay not great but okay i was wondering if i wire the vtec and convert the P06 to a vtec one will it run better or will i jus mess up the ecu
Here's a question that requires some critical thinking.
Why would you be able to convert a non-VTEC ECU to have VTEC functionality (like many many people have) if it would somehow "mess up" the ECU?

Yes.
You say it wont let you shift gears? If it's an automatic get a proper P28 automatic ECU.
Also, if you convert a P06 to vtec it also needs to be chipped and tuned, which is fine, but if it's a stock D-series it makes more sense financially to just buy a P28.
