Burning through oil quickly?
So I have a b18cr 96 spec motor, and after thinking about it, I've never really checked to see if the dipstick was the correct one, but it seems as though every time I check it, oil never shows up on the stick. So before the oil change, the oil light showed up and I checked my dipstick and there was nothing on the tip. So I figured, hmm maybe I need an oil change. So I get an oil change the the light turns off. So after maybe 500-1000 miles I was driving today and the oil light flickered once while I was driving and then second drive home from work it flickered maybe 3-4 times. So I was curious and checked the dipstick and it shows empty. But I've never recalled it showing anything every time I look at it. And I've never checked the dipstick after an oil change. So I'm not sure if my car is running through oil too quickly and should be addressed, or the dipstick is at fault..... I ran into Vtec and usually if oil is low shouldn't vtec perform bad? Also the car was switch to full synthetic on the oil change which was done on 4/7/13 which was only 3 weeks ago. So I dont know what is wrong.
but you say the engine was rebuilt ? still try a comp test dry then wet

heres what you need to do
assuming you have the stock oil pan.
change your oil again, fill it with 4.5 quarts of oil. pull the dipstick. it should read full, if it doesnt then you need to get the right dip stick.
when you say your oil light is coming on, this means that your oil pressure is dropping to unsafe levels. at this point you need to be able to verify you are low on oil. if you are, then you need to figure out when its burning, or where it is leaking.
did you run synthetic since day one on the fresh engine? did you go through the ring beading procedure? is the engine builder reputable?
i'm guessing something isn't right with the rebuild, weather its ring gaps lining up wrong, bad job honing the cylinders, or bad break in practices
