I'm having issues with an oil pressure problem.

Car runs fine. I have a new phantom oil pressure sensor and a brand new obd2 oil pump. Thing is the oil pressure at idle is about 25 psi but at 3k rpms it's only a tick above fifty. Vtec seems to not work after a while since I've been data logging. Oil pressure would drop to 40psi ish in vtec.

The oil I'm using is conventional 5w-30 and I'm running my oil feed line and my gauge from the same sandwich from the back of the block.

I know the basics of hydraulics, all pressure is equal in all directions blah blah but my question is can having the turbo feed line and oil pressure gauge on the same oil feed give me a bad or wrong reading on my gauge?

And yes, I replaced the oil pump recently, new gasket for the oil pickup, pan is not dented and oil is topped off. Oem pan.

 

Never had an issue.

It doesn't sound like you know the basics of hydraulics. Either way, you need to focus on verifying your new cheap gauge is even working with a mechanical gauge. You didn't give much details to go off of, what was recently done to the engine? How long has the setup been together? Other things that may be pertinent to aiding you...

 

So you're telling me my autometer is garbage? Go on...

Something isn't right.

I am also running 5w-30 (due to varying ambient temperatures), AEM pressure sensor/gauge and oil-feed in series from my Golden Eagle sandwich. I read 75psi at operating temp in higher RPM.

Pressure should be equal in that whole line.

Take the components off, clean it all out and try again. To diagnose the pump being faulty or the gauge, you may have to tap off the block and confirm that it is not the source. Then if possible find/borrow a known good Autometer sensor.

Does your factory oil light come on/blink on the cluster?

Worst case scenario, you have a serious oil leak inside the engine. All the bearings, oil ports, oil squirters and feeds to the head are all "controlled" leaks and it is possible you have forgotten something that is imperative for oil control or (pressure). For example: Worn bearings can cause excessive oil leakage and decreased oil system pressure. etc.

 

Really need more info on your motor. 25 psi at idel is that car fully wormed up?

 

Yes it stays above 25psi idling when warmed up.
Oil light does not flicker/blink/flash.
I'm going to try tapping the oil from the factory sensor location and try an rsx oil filter.
