Z6 vs y7 oil pump difference?
I'm having a small leak from under my hermonic balancer. No other leaks from the oil pan gasket. I used a y7 oil pump on my z6 block (miss placed the z6 pump at the time of rebuild). Im assuming the seal on the y7 is my issue. I see an accumilated ammout of assumbly lube under my timing belt on top of the oil pump. Should I put the z6 pump back on with new seal? Or just change
The y7 seal??? Thanks
The y7 seal??? Thanks
the pan on the y7 and z6 are different around the snout... if ur using a y7 pr y8 oil pump on a z6 u have to use a y7/y8 oil pick up and oil pan on a z6.... iif u do not have a y7 oil pan then your best bet is to put ur z6 oil pump back on
Is there a printed code on the pumps to tell them apart. I have another pan just not sure which one it is, my z6 or my y7 or possibly a d15 i ripped apart a while ago. Id have to look and see what oil pick up i have too. Hopefully i have both so i can just switch it all back to z6. Lol thanks
The pumps are easy to differntiate. Y7/Y8 will have the mounting bosses for the CKF sensor, Z6 wont. D15 will have a smaller diameter seal and hole and wont fit a 1.6L crank.
As far as the pans, OEM Y7 will indeed have P2E stamped in it, also the dipstick hole in the baffle will be on the side. D15/Z6 is the same and has the hole in the middle of the front of the baffle.
