hello question i just put my gsr engine back into my dc integra fresh from the machine shop they put everething back together new pistons rods arp headbolts ported polished head etc i just turned my car over and the oil light came on turned it off and checked my pressure switch it was connected so i took the turbo line off the back of the block and no oil seems to be passing trew the line so i removed the adapter to the block and pressure switch and cranked the motor over to see if oil comes trew for like 5 seconds and mo oil comes trew any help please thanks

 

fresh motor, may take a few seconds to build up pressure and get it flowing threwout the motor. Start it and let it run for 10 seconds of so and check it again.

 

should i do it with the pressure switch and adapter off the block

 

na, that shouldn't effect anything, leave it on. Did you put a new oil pump on? did they make sure the oil tube in the pan was put back on? if not, it ain't gonna suck up any oil.

 

il have to check just it was all put back together when i got it from the machine shop i just basically dropped it in bolted everething back up put oil and turned it on i just turned it on no light comes on without anything on

 

Verify your oil level and be sure to prefill your oil filter (which should already be standard practice). Disconnect the ECU (or fuel and ignition another way) and crank the engine over for 30-60 seconds in 10 second intervals giving the starter a 10 second or so break in between. You can do all of this with the sandwich plate hooked up.

 

yeah i dont have a sandwich plate on my gsr im running my turbo feed line with an adapter where my oil pressure switch connects its a fitting screwwed into the block with a fitting going to my turbo line and the pressure switch srewed at the back

 

Sorry, I misread... either way, you can test it like that if you choose to do so. A way to verify if the turbo is getting oil is to disconnect the drain line. You should see a steady flow.

 

yeah im pretty sure theres no oil going trew i took the feedline out and adapter where the pressure switch moints to the back of the block next to where the oil filter goes and no oil is passing trew smh im going to buy a new pressure switch tomorrow and check if it hopefully works and i checked my dipstick and oil is still at level

 

You can't just keep cranking it, assembly lube only lasts so long.
Drop the pan an verify that the pickup and pickup gasket are in place on the oil pump,

Then fill to proper level and try again.

 

Took mine many many cranks to fill the filter full and prime oil out the turbo feed. If you're feeling crazy fire it up with the feed line off till it makes a horrific mess lol

 

on a fresh motor i always put oil in the filter, also i crank the motor with the distributor unplugged untill the light goes off. Usually takes about 30 seconds for it to build pressure in the entire motor. After that I plug in the dizzy and fire it up. i use EXTREME amnounts of moly assumbly lube on my builds LOL

 

Update just installed new pressure switch light still on took out the oil filter and it's dry so I'm guessing it is my oil pump

 

this. except maybe the "EXTREME" amount of assy. lube. Oil clearance will only allow you however much assy lube there is room for. Then on the oil change there isn't as much assy. lube to get out. But which ever way a person is comfortable with. More than one way to skin a....

 

so basically do an oil change too see if it clear passages
