Wastegate pipe out of turbo collector HELP!
Guys,
I have came accross a huge problem.
After I have finished a 6 runner manifold for an BMW M3 my client came and told me that he wants to mount an 60 mm wastegate.
But there's some problems:
-there's no space to make the exit from the collector with an 60 mm due to the elbow will touch the turbo housing
-the collector is too short to mount an 60 mm elbow
-the oil return pipe can't be mounted safely away from big heat
-the hot intercooler pipe is almost imposible to mount with an 60 mm pipe.
Therefore I have made an 48 mm elbow with an reducer from 48 to 60 mm....like in the photo.
Is this OK???

Even if you get it all mounted up well, what is the point of running a 60mm gate, when the inlet the the elbow is only 48mm? It will still flow closer to a 44mm than a 60. I think your idea will work. I would just stick with a 44mm gate. From the customer end, I would rather be told my plan wont work as well as I think, then pay someone to "do what I want". Just me maybe.
