Default Head build or Turbo?

I'm looking build up my B18A1 but I don't know if I should build the head then turbo it or jut turbo it. Currently I'm running 15.5 @ 87mph in the 1/4mile. My realistic goal is to get into the high 13s. Any help would be great.

What kind of power do you need to get into the 13s?

LSV is a comical waste of time, just like any mini-me swap. Boost it.

I would look into a new transmission first assuming you are using the LS transmission.

gonna need some slicks and atleast 200hp to make 13's. or make about 240-250hp and hit 13's on street tires.

That's not true. I hit 13s all day with stock JDM B18C (GSR) engine (had exhaust and $50 ebay header, stock airbox) on street tires. It was maybe making 150-160whp.

But anyway, just boost the B18A1.

Thanks!

I don't know the weight but that's all that's been removed. No rear seats, plastic panels, or spare tire. No passenger seat. That's all, nothing crazy.

I do need to get it on the scales though.

Total of 20lbs lol, if that, wasn't it ? Probably lost more weight with the door panels than the rear seats.

You dont have to build the LS to boost it but when i had my LS Turbo, i put in Dual valve springs and titanium retainers and i was able to rev past 8 grand all day without worrying about floating a valve with a Big Azz Sc61 precision turbo.

With NON VTEC B series engines , you dont even have to take the head off to do the springs and retainers. Just need a compression hose and air , a brake shoe retaining tool (and a hammer if you dont have the strength to push down and turn the retainers lose) to keep the valves seated in place when you do the springs and Retainers.

The question wasn't how much weight I took out, but how much the car weighed. And if you think only 20lbs was the difference from taking out a spare tire, rear seats, plastics, and passenger seat, then you don't have a good grasp of how much things weigh.

Dont bother with a swap...A straight LS on boost can safely make ~300whp if put together correctly. Thats more than enough power to hit 13s. If/when you're bored of the LS, buy a VTEC head and have a little more fun.

This was actually my first question/ problem. I am using the LS trany. I got my car out one time last season and did 11 runs. The runs were between 17.5 and 15.5 but couldn't get over 87mph. Someone told me that maybe that's maxing the MPH of the trany out. Any insure of what going on here?

I plan on boosting the car but after doing some research I think I'm going to do the cams springs and retainers first. What would be a good set. I was looking at the crower 403 but also read the skunk stage 2's were good. Probably looking to spend around 500 to 1000

**** Junk2. Crower, Brian Crower, and Buddy Club are all good options. I'm personally going Brian Crower.
