Did tuner screw up my car? Bad idle after tune.
I got my b18b1 turbo tuned last saturday. I noticed the next day that at idle it will go up and down from 1200rpm to 800rpm like it wants to shut off. The car would idle and run fine on the basemap before i got the tune. I texted the tuner and he said it could be a vacuum leak or some other things but i double checked for vacuum leaks and nothing, i asked him if he could check it out but hes not responding. Only think i can think of is he didnt tune it right or it could be the spark plugs. When getting it tuned he put in some bkr7e and gapped them at .35 . It was running better with my old plugs.
I cant take it to another tuner for at least a month because i have some school bills to pay =[
Any ideas would help thanks.
It kind of sounds like this car at idle

First.
Please post what system your tuner was using. Secondly, a quick run down of the setup and the power (dyno graph if you can). There is more things to this equation then the info that you posted.

Believe it or not, customer service is one of the most important things you should look into when getting your car tuned.
We get new customers all of the time that end up paying for a tune twice because they try to save a buck by going to their local "cheaper" tuner.
I have also seen this occur with some well known shops/tuners that have normal pricing.
Without a wideband oxygen sensor gauge like an aem uego or innovate mtx-l you won't be able to directly see if the issue is tuning related & how far off your tune is etc.
You also don't know what your ignition timing table looks like or if your distributor timing is synced etc.

I had the same problem a few times. The most resent was when I ported and polished my intake manifold. The air flow was faster and smother so I had to adjust the idle she runs like a dream now.

My car does the same thing but dies out a lot. I never thought to adjust the throttle. I just had the timing fixed and replaced the air idol control valve before having it timed and it ran so much better before the timing got done
