Default JDM F22B Vtec Swap

Good Evening Everyone,

I have a 1997 Honda Accord EX and just swapped in a JDM F22B Vtec and tranny. Well, the rewiring went fine for the distributor and no codes are being thrown. However, when I try to drive the actual car, the care idles very high before shifting to another gear. When in reverse I have no problem with power but when actually driving it is a seriously high idle and weird shifting. I used all the sensors from my old tranny but the problem remains. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sounds to me you have a vac leak somewhere. Check all your vac hose's and you may wanna bleed your coolant.

Thanks for the response. Just checked all the vacuum lines (yep at night here in Louisiana) and it is driving better however, it just started throwing codes of misfires across all cylinders. Really strange. It also threw a code for the vehicle speed sensor, which is one I think I forgot to change out. Any clue on the misfires??

No didn't downconvert. Shouldn't have needed to, right? I drove it for a few minutes and it shifted like crap. It's now throwing all the misfire codes and a P1399 code.

Why did you rewire the distributor. If you got an obd1 jdm motor all you had to do was swap your oil pump over to the new motor.

For the shifting, check the trottle control cable going to the trans for proper adjustment and movement.

Sounds like the trans is slipping. Maybe bad trans from the start?
