alternator wont charge my battery, but why? need help asap.
while driving the other night my radio, lights, tach, and speedo all went out one right after the next. i just figured my alternator went out so i changed it and nothing changed. so i brought my battery and my original alternator in to get tested and they both passed. i have also checked my fuses under the hood and there all good. the only thing i can think of is the wires running from the alternator but i cant see a thick 8 gauge wire just breaking... I'm very confused right now any help would be much appreciated this is my daily and i need it running again asap...
Make sure alt. "exciter" lead has power when ign. switch is on.
Check for voltage on the thick lead, ["8gauge"] at the alt. with ign. switch off, it should be the same as batt. voltage, ifr not check your main fuses. 94

ok thanks for the advice. i get power from the alt depending on how the wire is moved so that's why im thinking something is messing up in that 8 gauge wire. so im gonna just get a new wire and run it from the alt to the batt and see if it works.
I had a similar problem with a Del Sol I had. Turns out the guy I bought the car from swapped the battery wire and the ALT wire in the fuse box in order to make the car run when I picked it up. Shifty ****** he was. Turned out that the ALT worked fine.
Yeah i just put a new 8 gauge wire in and it works fine now. I think they had to extend the wire when they did the H22 swap so im guessing it broke where they spliced it together.
