H22 All motor Ignition timing question
Hello all,
It would be kind if you could give your opinion on the following ignition timing map for a H22 all motor. The specs of the engine are below:
Comp: 11.0:1
Stock bottom end - Slightly Port and polished head - port match to intake and exhaust.
Crower stage 3 cams
Supertech valvetrain
Tri Y header
BMC street intake manifold
70mm skunk throttle
2.5" exhaust line all the way with apexi ws2 box.
Synced fixed timing at 10 degree
Balancer shaft delete - removed belt
Red line: 8600
Running 89-91 ROn fuel
I want you opinion on the following:
Is the ignition timing too aggressive? I did spend time reading about it and some people said that more timing = more peak pressure = more power can someone confirm that. And i know it is best on the dyno - am going there soon i just want to lose my time doing a basic map on the dyno - as dyno my country does not allow too much time for tuning.
Could you define good / safe timing numbers uptill 4500 revs
Any numbers uptill 8500 revs
Any other opinions you have are most welcome.

And yes I have been keeping track with oem knock sensor value it is under 5v also I use knock headphone can hear anything abnormal from them.
Unfortunately am still waiting to get the egt sesnor which is the next addition.
Kind regards

you are going to need to read the plugs. an egt gauge is a tad pointless unless you have all four runners with sensors and your setup is too mild for all that. and ignition varies on every engine. plugs will tell you most everything you need to know with a trained eye.
also, i wouldnt trust the knock sensor all that much. your headphones will be more useful.
where are your cams set? they like some advance

I am holding it below 3volts, Whats a SAFE/TORQUEWINNER Voltage ur h22 holds!?
I would use the internal log to set out a graph of your O2, Knock, Timing, Load etc.
Since you do not have a dyno to use, slowly adjusting and analyzing your data would be better than trying to listen for knock when advancing the timing at a guess.
Are you tuning based on speed density? or are you doing an Alpha-N hybrid with AEM? Btw i just looked at your breakpoints and you will need positive reference as well...say .5 above 0.

What is that? In my case i am using a series 1 ems. Y do every day pc logging and adjust everithing. Y want to adv a little bit the spark but need references from de nock or someone that knows
my h22 liked 29 degrees of timing but i tune my cars with neptune shouldnt be much difference...
only real way to tune timing is on the dyno... *** dyno isnt going to tell you when you start loosing power from too much timing or to less timing
