Icon3 EF civic D15B2 rebuild

I have a 1991 honda civic ef hatch. The Engine is a D15B2 and my Trans is a 92 civic si sl3. I have a BHG (blown head gasket), Timing belt jumped a tooth and water pump is broke. I have just about 200k on engine. and around 25k on the rebuilt sl3 transmission and new stage2 clutch. I was wondering if i should rebuild the D15B2 to a high compression forged pistons and rods for around 800 bucks or do a D16 swap?

I priced a D16 engine for 850 bucks. Im working on a 800 dollar budget a month project. Im wanting a all motor build. I'm planning on using TiK p29 high compression pistons. GSP rods, AEM cam gear and aem crankgear. dyco timing replacement kit, D16 oil pump, and thats just 650 bucks right there. idk the cost to get rods/pistons pressed

I've heard B2 rods are not all that common. Correct me if I'm wrong. Also, the engine you have doesn't have vtec and is that the stock tranny? If so it's the same 4 spd I've got which is slow. I'd go with the swap too, because frankly that's what I am doing.

My transmission is a 1992 SL3 SI transmission. Its a 5spd with cable clutch. I rebuilt the transmission threw in a 70/30 lsd locker. It will straighten up a doughnut and has good traction. The stock transmission mount flexes. lol I have dual point fuel injection so i thought to relieve stress from wiring would be high pressure fuel pump and a fuel regulator.

Don't waste your money rebuilding a b2. Not sure where youve been looking but a low mileage d16 can be had for $250-$350. Shop around bud.

I am still looking around but I used a compression calculator and found out the p29 pistons will be pushing same compression as a si engine. Im wondering should I rework the head? @EFinAwesome where you searching for motors? Im in sc these cars are rare and hard to find parts
