Default D16Y7/D16Z6 Mini-Me headbolts

Can someone please explain the logic of running one Z6 bolt at the back next to vtec solenoid? The holes are all the same depth, and both engines use headbolts that are all the same length (the length between the two engines is different) I just don't understand the reasoning here at all.

Wondering why myself now. I've read that in quite a few write-ups but then read twice as many more that never brought it up as an issue to run the same bolts all the way around.

I figured it out. That back hole next to the vtec solenoid is raise in the Z6 head by a fair bit. I can only assume the other 9 holes in the Z6 block are drilled deeper to allow for the longer bolts on those holes.

In other news I got it all put together and the head as a bent valve, wonderful. Gonna try some really ghetto straightening techniques tomorrow and see if I can get it straight enough to stop binding.

No pick and pulls near you? I was just walking through one today, and there was at least a dozen Z6 and B7 heads laying around.

About an hour away. I have valves here. I just don't have another headgasket and this has to be in and running by tomorrow.

trying to rebend that valve probably isnt going to work. but goodluck. they are made of stainless steel and dont bent very easily. it has to seat perfect or ur gonna get a tap and probably wear the valve seat out

Screwdriver and hammer actually worked. I couldn't believe it. I'm not even so sure it was bent as it was stuck from sitting. I just hit it a couple of times and it stopped snapping. Just had it running a few minutes ago and it's smooth and quiet.
