ARP headstuds D16Y7 or D16Z6
Well I think I have the question answered but I wanted to make sure.
Block is a d16y7 and head is a d16z6. Which arp studs do I want?
Z6 part # is 208-4301
Y7 part # is 208-4305
I figured that you want the studs that correspond with the block. But I am just checking. Any help would be appreciated.

I would have gone with Z6...
I know the Y7/Y8 headbolts are shorter than those of the Z6. I don't know if the threads in the block are shorter, or if the area where you bolt the head down is lower on the Y8 head. I'm pretty sure for Y8 mini-me's you need to use the Y8 head bolts, so I would have gotten the studs designed for the head.
Let me know if using the Y8 head studs works though

i too think you should have gone with the z6 studs. the z6's are longer cause where they bolt on the head they higher.
and please dont use stock headbolts, you know how our d's like to pop headgaskets

I just got off the phone with lightning motor sports. ANd I got them to hold the order until I figure it out.
He said to get him these numbers:
Depths of threads into the block
Depth before the threads start into the block
ANd thickness of the head.
If anyone could help, I would be greatful. Need to let them know asap.

Nope, the head is on my car, and the block is at a shop. So I have neither. And I don't have the Y7 bolts. SO I am kinda shooting in the dark on this one. I can't believe no one has ever done this before.
No one seems to have an answer. ARP isn't sure, Earl doesn't know... my technical sources are dwindleing.

Bottom of bolt to deck of block: 2 3/8" (60mm) Threads start 13/16" down in block (21mm) Hope this helps. And to the person that said not to use stock headbolts, I re-torqued my B7 bolts 3 times and with 10 psi never had a HG issue, go figure.

You are the man, thanks for doing that for me. Now, I think I need the thickness of a Z6 head. And I will be set.

well I called lightning motorsports with the specs and they compared the two studs. The difference is 3/4". So I ordered the Y7 because they are shorter. I think the main difference is on a Z6 the bolts start threading lower in the block. So hopefully this works out.
That for the measurements.

Re: ARP headstuds D16Y7 or D16Z6 (93turbo16)
I think you made the right choice with the 208-4305. I tried to use them (208-4305) on a D16A6 block with a D16Y7 head, and they were too short. This makes me think the D16A6/D16Z6 block has deeper holes in the block than the D16Y7/D16Y8 necessitating the longer bolts. I ended up using the D16Z6 bolts, but needed to add some extra washers on the 2 studs in the rear corners of the head. I added 3 washers (total 4) on those 2 studs because they were too long.
Just beware that you might be faced with the same requirement for extra washers. Also, if you do need extras, use the same flat ground hardened washers as come with the ARPs. I bought extras from ARP for $9 for 10, plus shipping.

Re: (93turbo16)
I did a Y8 Block with Z6 head.
I used the Y8 Studs except for 1 Z6 stud at one of the corners (with 1 extra washer). 1 Y8 stud is about 1MM too short (opposite corner from where I put the Z6 stud) but I think I should be fine...
