Default 93 DX Coupe w/ 15b7 turns over will not fire up

Hi guys:

I am at my wits end on trying to get this car to start....

The car turns over, I am getting power to the starter, the battery seems ok, even tried jumping it just to see if the starter was not getting enough juice and still nothing.

I changed the plugs out since they had gotten oil on them since I had changed the valve cover and tube gaskets as well, just so I would have fresh plugs to eliminate that as being the issue....

I hear the fuel pump priming when I turn the key but the car just turns...

I pumped the pedal but I would think I should be flooded with gas, but I don't really smell a flood....

So, my next guess is well by my logic was the fuel filter was clogged and blocking the gas line?

I am lost here guys, how do I follow a diagnosis whether it is the fuel filter, pressure regulator or pump?

Or in my usual diagnosis am I missing something else entirely?

Thanks for any help anyone can provide

Your post is confusing. FYI if you turn the key and the engine spins via the starter but does not fire up that is called CRANKING. If it fires up that means it has TURNED OVER.

So from your post, it sounds like the engine cranks just fine but won't turn over? Is that correct? Quick process of elimination here, have you verified that spark is at the plug?

Also, a quick check for the fuel filter is to loosen the fuel line going into the filter then put the key to the II position so that pump primes. You should be able to see if fuel leaks at the line. If it does turn the key to the off position, tighten the hose and loosen the other hose going to the fuel rail and repeat. If it leaks, the fuel is passing through the filter (to a reasonable extent anyway).

For future reference, pumping the gas pedal to start a car is mainly for carb'd cars. I've made that mistake before and flooded my engine

Thanks for the clarification on the terminology..... I will take a wrench to anything, but a lot of times I don't know how to tell people what I am doing, have done, or attempting to do.

Also, thanks for the info.... I am getting a spark, will check this the first thing tomorrow... too cold and frustrated now

possibly check the main relay i had a 94 lx 5 speed and the pump would kick on and off real fas t so u would think it was priming but wasnt gettin enough fuel. main relays are a common problem with alot of hondas. hope this helps.

Would the main relay cause the car to die while you are driving it? My kid said the car just died on him.... he cranked it back up and went a little way and it died again for good and I have been tinkering with it since earlier today.

It's possible. All it really comes down to (most of the time) is old solder joints. If you have access to a soldering iron you can most times get away with reheating the solder. If you are experienced, remove old solder and apply new solder.

So you are getting spark? Or you are going to check if you have spark?
