Short story. Guy starting texting me about my TE37's I had for sale. Kept asking, "so there will be no tracking info?" I didn't think anything of it, but if there wasn't, I would have no way of proving that I even sent him his wheels. Anyway, after a few days talking, he sends me money via PayPal. I pack them up, bring them over to Greyhound to get shipped. He was in a big hurry to have them shipped asap. It was December 24th when I dropped them off at GreyHound. I send him all the tracking info. Two days later he makes an unauthorized claim with PayPal. Luckily it was during the Christmas holidays, and I got to the shipping depot just before they left. I took the wheels home, and asked him about the issue. He claimed he never made that claim, and he would resend the money and cancel the PayPal dispute. Days went buy, he got his money back. He said he would send me a money order instead. Needless to say, it never came.
Watch out for this guy. Ive been hearing about this scam more often now after its happened to me. They'll send the money, and then make an unauthorized payment claim. They get their money back, and you lose your parts.
His name on his PayPal account is Oi Tung Fannie Chan
Name he game me: Alan Chow
Address given: #118 9500 Odlin Rd, Richmond, BC V6X 0H5
Email: fannie-0123@hotmail.com
Address on Paypal: 8238 Saba Rd, Richmond, BC, V6Y 4C6
Unfortunatly he never messaged me on here, so I do not have a user name, but I will search Honda-Tech for an Alan Chow, and Oi Tung Fannie Chan

Those Canadians sure are tricky. That makes it about a handful of Canadian buyers/sellers that I know of on the scammer list. Reason why I tend not to buy/sell to them (also cause of shipping costs).

The thing is most people dont know is that if you send money as gift to someone, you pay the fees associated with sending money but then you loose any way of getting back any cash from paypal.
They dont refund any money if you send payment as gift and open a dispute.
Also, its best to send all packages with a tracking number and pics of everything with the labels attached. Proving what you are sending.
Never send money as a gift.
save any and all messages between yourself and the other party... if the seller doesn't respond with in a reasonable amount of time DO NOT HESITATE TO OPEN A DISPUTE.
After dispute has been opened only contact seller through paypal...
Once a dispute has been opened DO NOT close the dispute this will ruin any of your chances at getting a refund... hope this helps. i have had people attempt to scam me fortunately i haven't lost any of my hard earned money.

what protection do we have if the situation like OP happends. he got lucky because of the holidays.
you dont pay fees when you send as a gift
unless you use credit card
if you send from your bank account or debit theres no fees.
i usually do it when im buying from a reputable seller or a store.(if they ask)

What the hay!
I'm Canadian and have purchased form 4 individual people on HTM within the last week, paid instantly and now am waiting for product to arrive.
Please don't black-list people north of the border because of some that are dishonest.
You'll find shifty people everywhere.
Just buy and sell smart.
Use Paypal and never send $ as gift (pay the fee's it's worth it)
Clearly describe in the paypal notes what you're paying for
Get tracking info and watch it.
It does involve some sort of trust to do business this way, but so does ebay or any online buying.
Cheers!

honestly i think the paypal system is broken for sellers; the only real thing you can do is to be very descriptive.
Always send with tracking number always...
Take pictures lots of pictures of any defects and make sure the buyer knows what they are getting...
Keep all messages that are interchanged with one another, make paypal aware that if they need any "evidence" from you that you have everything saved.
buy insurance for your items...
Things do happen in shipping as far as breakage.
Even though it is inconvenient ask if the buyer would like the item to be held for them to pick it up to avoid any shipments being delivered to the wrong location. (the last one has happened to me personally...twice)

I have refused to send payments as gift. I am more than happy to pay the 3% to have that extra insurance that I get my parts. I have purchased hundred of parts through Honda-Tech and other forums, and have zero reason to ever even think of scamming anyone. I have also sold about 200 parts on here as well. I wish the iTrader Rating was mandetory when you sell or buy. Would help see who has good/bad feedback
